Nottingham Zine Fair

Saturday 26th May saw an afternoon filled with fun and creativity as Spanky Van Dykes played host to The Nottingham Zine Fair. The fair was established to celebrate and promote both local, home-grown zine talent, along with established international zines. This included work from students and graduates from Nottingham Trent and Loughborough, to name a few. The day also included live music and a variety of workshops – all for free!

Zines are fast becoming very popular outlets for creative types, but what are they exactly?!

The answer lies in the content and production of these ‘informal’ magazines. The production is quite makeshift and inexpensive, and content is often focused on a niche area of art, music, or culture, for example. Therefore, giving way to all sorts of creative expression.

‘Raw Print’ presented the Nottingham Zine Fair. The company aims to spread their love for zines and promote a variety of work. Students from Nottingham Trent University also had a lot of creative input into the event branding and content.

Overall, the day was a great success, giving people the chance to browse and purchase a huge range of zines catering to all types and tastes. A explosion of creativity and expression in Spanky Van Dykes - We can only hope for more events like this!
