Arctic Monkeys reveal 2 new songs.

Arctic Monkeys gave their new track Do I Wanna Know? its shining debut at their first live performance (after performing at the Olympics closing ceremony) in almost a year. The sold out California show was opened by the new song, which of course received a crazy fan reception. It’s no wonder front man Alex Turner asked the crowd ‘Can you feel the sense of occasion?’

The song set the band up for their 21 song set, including everybody’s favourites I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Fluorescent Adolescent, closing the show with 505. As a studio version of Do I Wanna Know? is yet to be released, fans have taken to YouTube, watching the live version from the show which took place in the Majestic Ventura Theater. As magical as the moment caught on camera may be, the audio? Well it isn’t that great. However it wouldn’t take an Arctic Monkeys expert to see the likeliness between the track and previous single R U Mine? Similar weighty guitar riffs and intro rhythm, the quartet weren’t kidding when they said album number five will be heavier rock.

‘I've dreamt about you nearly every night this week
How many secrets can you keep?’

The track has caused speculation of when the Sheffield rockers will release their album following Suck It and See (2011) and after rumors of the new material having been recorded in Rancho de la Luna birthplace to 2009 album Humbug it makes me wonder whether they've returned to their eerie romanticist sound. Well we won’t have long to wait..a release date has yet to be well, released. However, drummer Matt Helders told NME earlier this year when asked whether the much anticipated new album will sound like ‘2013’ he replied "Well, we'd be stupid if we made a 2013 album and released it next year." It’s the closest link to a confirmation, and all Arctic Monkey’s fans are gonna take it.

The band are set to kick off more live performances with festivals this summer, their biggest headlining Glastonbury. Could a UK tour be released later this year? Well, I for one have my fingers, toes and everywhere else crossed for it. As if that wasn't enough, Arctic Monkeys kept the surprises coming by revealing a new song merely two weeks later at two Scandinavian Festivals on June 14th and June 16th. Mr Turner sporting a suit on stage told the crowd to ‘Keep warm by cuddling or something like that.’ whilst they slowed things down just a bit. The track ‘Mad Sounds’ which is guessed to be on the new album was introduced towards the end of the set. Shockingly different to R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know? the song features a ‘oooh la la la’ backing and softer riffs. A twinkly sound which could be compared to Baby I’m Yours.
