The Open 28 - Open invitation to local artists

Leicester Arts & Museums Service invites artists from across the East Midlands to submit their artworks to compete to be shown in the annual Open art exhibition and win a range of artists prizes including the £1000 Attenborough Prize.

The search is now on to find the paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculptures and craft that will feature in this year’s Open Art Exhibition in Leicester.

The Annual event, now in its 28th year, welcomes work from artists living or working in Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire or Northamptonshire.

Artists hoping to showcase their work at Open 28 must submit their online applications by Friday 19 May. The Open 28 runs from the 8th of July to the 19th of August, 2017.

A panel of independent judges will then select the very best works to feature.

Assistant city mayor for culture, leisure and sport Councillor Piara Singh Clair said: “The Leicester Open is a wonderful opportunity for talented local artists to showcase their work. It always attracts the very best work from around the East Midlands, and I’m sure that this year will be no exception.”
