QUAD in Derby will hold a fundraising screening for ‘Plus One’

QUAD will be holding a one-off screening of the comedy-classic, sing-along, feel-good film Sister Act, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Whoopi Goldberg plays lounge singer Deloris Van Carter who witnesses her mobster boyfriend killing someone, so the police place her in a witness protection programme in the last place anyone would expect: a convent. Struggling with the change in lifestyle, Deloris is finally ordered to join the choir and turn the timid nuns into a choir of singin’ swingin’ sisters! Sister Act (PG) will screen in QUAD on Friday 14th July at 7:00pm, followed by a disco night in QUAD Café bar with the Divine DJs. Tickets are £10 includes a ‘Plus One’ ticket donation, please book through or call QUAD Box Office on: 01332 290606.

Plus One is an award winning scheme for young people in care and care leavers to take part in cultural opportunities across Derby City. QUAD and major arts organisations Déda, Derby Theatre and Baby People, have joined forces with care services across Derbyshire to provide young people in care, care leavers and their families, with the chance to experience live performances, films, and take part in a host of exciting opportunities.

Funded through public donations over the past three years Plus One has helped over 1,000 young people in care and care leavers and their foster families to enjoy cultural experiences which, for some of these young people, has been the first time visit to a theatre or cinema. People can donate anytime by visiting the Plus One page or when booking tickets at either Déda, Derby Theatre or QUAD to contribute to the Plus One scheme.
