QUAD’s Summer Nights Outdoor Film Festival returns in 2017

Summer Nights Film Festival is back for a seventh year at thirteen fabulous locations across the UK. Presented by QUAD on an inflatable twelve metre screen, Summer Nights Festival screenings offer the chance to enjoy the great outdoors for a unique cinematic experience. The list of dates and films for Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire venues are:

In Derbyshire:

Calke Abbey is showing Mamma Mia (PG) on Thursday 3rd August, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12A with subtitles) on Friday 4th August and Footloose (12A) on Saturday 5th August.

In Mamma Mia, a young woman about to be married discovers that any one of three men could be her father. This musical comedy romance is set on a colourful Greek island and serves as a background for a wealth of ABBA songs. A great chance to sing-along to a feel good film. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a Rebellion soldier and criminal, is about to experience her biggest challenge yet when Mon Mothma gives her the mission to steal the plans of the new Empire weapon, the planet killer The Death Star. Director Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) picks up the reins to direct a cast packed with amazing actors like Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and Forest Whitaker. Also returning is James Earl Jones providing the voice of the iconic Darth Vader. This screening has English subtitles suitable for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

In Footloose, Kevin Bacon stars as Ren, the toe tapping city teenager, who moves to a small town with his mother. Though he tries so hard to fit in, he just can’t stop the beat and in a town where music and dancing have been made illegal, this could cause a problem.....

Hardwick Hall is showing La La Land (12A) on Friday 18th August and Top Gun (12A) on Saturday 19th August.

La La Land is a beguiling musical romance set in contemporary Hollywood and winner of numerous awards this year. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling showcase incredible chemistry as wannabe movie start Mia and pianist Seb, who stifled by frustrated ambition, meet and fall in love. A contemporary Singin’ In The Rain that has swept the board at the awards season this year. In Top Gun Tom Cruise takes to the skies in the popular 80s blockbuster as he endures dogfights, bar fights and volleyball! Featuring a raft of acting talent including Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan

In Nottinghamshire:

Clumber Park is showing Dirty Dancing (12A) on Friday 4th August and Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves (12A) on Saturday 5th August.

In Dirty Dancing, drama, music and romance are the order of the day for Frances “Baby” Houseman as she spends summer in a holiday camp and falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze).

Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves heads back to Sherwood Forest to see Robin Hood (Kevin Costner) and his Moorish companion Azeem (Morgan Freeman) return to England to battle the tyranny of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman). Along the way he brings a band of merry men and romances the Maid Marion (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio).

Wollaton Hall is showing Moulin Rouge (12A) on Thursday 24th August, Pretty Woman (15) on Friday 25th August, Jurassic Park (PG) on Saturday 26th August, The Dark Knight Rises (12A subtitled) on Sunday 27th August and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12A) on Monday 28th August.

Moulin Rouge is set on the cusp of the 20th Century, Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge captures the spirit of the Bohemian revolution sweeping the underworld of Paris. In The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan returns to his Gotham City stomping ground for a final go-around with Christian Bale’s Batman, adding Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) and the wonderful Tom Hardy as the brutal Bat breaking Bane to the mix.One of our most popular screenings returns to Wollaton Hall aka Wayne Manor! Standard Summer Nights tickets cost £13 for adults or £9 for under 12s, tickets for children aged under five years are free. The price of £11 for adults and £7 for under 12s is available for group bookings of eight or more people (up to the Thursday of each weekends’ screenings).

Summer Nights Film Festival has teamed up with some fantastic food and drink partners at select venues, so customers can leave their picnic at home! Award winning artisan food specialist Hackwood Farm, based in Radbourne, Derby, are offering pre-ordered traditional wicker picnic hampers for two people packed with tasty traditional picnic fare and including a blanket, glasses, plates and cutlery. The hamper includes a selection of treats such as handmade sandwiches and crisps, Hackwood Farm’s sausage rolls, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam and traditional lemonade. Customers can pre-order their hamper when purchasing their Summer Nights tickets. There will also be drinks and desserts available on the night at selected venues from Bobby’s Bar and Flow Catering.
