People – Graduation

People – Graduation

So I finally graduated on Saturday, and collected my FIRST!!!

I was completely shocked when I found out my results to be fair,

But after a whirlwind weekend and a graduation that went in a bit of a blur,

I’ve had time to reflect and think,

And the main theme that keeps coming up is people,

The world is full of people,

Some short, some tall, some heavy, some light,

Some with brown hair, some with blonde hair,

Some people we get on with, some people we do..

A journeys end?

A journeys end?

And so here it is…

The end.

After 3 years at university yesterday morning (20th May) I sat my final ever exam (unless for some reason I do some more educating of myself years down the line)

In the last few days/weeks, I’ve seen a lot of people posting about it being the end, it coming to an end and what to do next, but I don’t feel like anything is ending, in fact quite the opposite, having been tied to university for the last 3 years when I’ve been offered so many other oppor..

Team v campaign 2

So I once again haven’t blogged in a while (lot’s of stuff happening as usual) however it is DEFINITELY worth blogging now,

I have just started campaign numero 2 for Team v which is: ‘Make time for your mind: Promoting healthier minds and happier lives’.

I would be lying if I didn’t say campaign 1 was hard, and had a lot of up’s and down’s but I did it….We did it, watch the video below to see just how much of an impact we made on campaign 1:

But moving forward we are o..

Refuge Music

As part of my third year radio production module, I went down to the Crumblin Cookie, for Citizenseye’s Community Media Week party on the 12th November.

While there I spoke to the guys from Refuge and recorded some awesome music from them as well as their support act Ola, I am currently editing the audio from the night so keep an eye out for the links!

Hopefully Refuge will also be coming in to do a Live and Loud session on DemonFM.

I took a couple of pictures

Personality Testing

Personality Testing

During one of our Radio Production labs we completed a number of personality tests. The sort of tests that can be seen as pointless crap, but also an interesting insight into your personality and how your individual minds work.

I am a bit sceptical to these sorts of tests at times as some results can be seen as a bit wishy washy and horoscope like, however, they do bring out a lot of results you would expect about your personality.

I am an introvert, I like to work on my own, I get annoyed ..

Godot was Here

Godot was Here

On Sunday 21st October I ventured out across Bede Park to the Western Pub, but I wasn’t going for a Pint, I was in fact going to watch Off The Fence Theatre Company’s 16th production, in which they turned the upstairs of the pub into a temporary theatre performance space.

Godot was Here was written by Thomas Scully. Godot was Here, continues the story of two of theatre’s most well known tramps and their interminable wait for an enigmatic stranger.

Inspired by Waiting for Godot, this p..

Team v

Team v

So I have just become a Team v leader, what is that you ask?

Well it’s a 9 month long leadership programme developed by vInspired. Over the course of the next 9 months I will be running 3 campaigns in my local community raising awareness about and challenging some really important issues. Over the weekend of the 12th October, all 100 team v leaders from across the country met for the first time (well for me it was, there was a warm up day but not everyone could attend) and found out what the fi..

Talentmatch bid

Talentmatch bid

On Tuesday 16th October I was part of a presentation as part of the short listing for a new Lottery funded project called talent match for Leicester and Leicestershire. The project will invest up to £100 million into helping young people aged 18 – 24 who have been out of work, education or training for more than 12 months.

The project I was helping bid with would focus on unlocking space and allowing young people to take control of their own development and ‘change the game’ because at the..

The Power of the Paralympics

The Power of the Paralympics

I was meant to post this up quite some time ago, as I wrote it for the Demon newspaper, however it was not put into the paper, so now I am posting it here

We all know the Olympics and Paralympics are over, but just how much did they influence us all? I’ve got to say the Olympics didn’t mean much to me at all, but the Paralympics just blew me away. The sheer strength and determination of so many people, the young and old (Alex Zanardi being 45 and winning his first gold medal) just proves tha..

Reminiscing

It seems so long ago since I last wrote a blog post, and yet I always think of things I would like to write about,  it’s over a month since I came back from Tunisia and that in itself is just crazy,

But it’s not just recent events I have recently been thinking about, it’s the whole picture, especially in the last 3/4 years how much my life has changed, in some ways for the better in some ways not,

It’s odd just what life throws at us, but you just have to take it with a pinch o..

Tunisian Troubles

Tunisian Troubles

I thought I would give a little run down of what actually happened over the course of my supposed holiday, we booked our holiday back in February through a website called Travel Republic. It was a brilliant deal, all inclusive, nice hotel, flights with british airways and transfers for a damn good price. I thought it was too good to be true, the other half said I worried too much….

Apparently not, six days before our holiday we were sent an email to tell us that we could no longer stay in the h..

Sticking with it…

Ok so my last post was about me going on a diet, this was just before my all inclusive holiday to Tunisia, which by the way was lovely, however I must confess I perhaps didn’t stick to it as well as I should have done, however I did feel like I had lost something and certainly felt better about myself when I went on holiday, my problem now though is to get back to it, a week of eating and drinking to your hearts content (although I wasn’t a complete pig and was actually quite sensible) and then get..

Dieting…

Dieting…

So I’ve decided to go on a diet, not one of these ridiculously fad diets that you lose loads of weight instantly but are constantly hungry and the minute you eat something you gain a stone,

A responsible healthy diet, basically eating things that are good for me and cutting down all the sugary fatty snacks,

My reasons being, I’ve gained a lot of weight since coming to university, mainly down to the snacking and unhealthy eating which comes from having little time to cook properly or not..

Summer draws upon us!

Having had a very recent discussion in which my blog was mentioned I realised as usual I had neglected it for a while so I thought I would give a bit of an update.

The date is the 9th May, i’ve just completed my first of three exams, not sure on the outcome, however i’m happy it’s done. I have two more and then FREEEDOMMMMMMMMMMM, or not… I have FINALLY been given a summer job working on the NCS programme near to home. I will be working full time with 16 year olds working with them on so..
