Well it turns out that I have more time than I realised for my takeover so..it's ...Andrew Jackson - @andrewjacksonphotos - here on an #OEGtakeover for the week, taking you through some of my images from the 'Home is a Person' project in Toxteth. The work here is on show at Open Eye Gallery as part of Culture Shifts: Local, open until 22nd December.' To underline the collaborative approach behind this commission the focus, and indeed the people selected to be photographed, were directed by a local resisent Michelle Peterkin Walker. In this photo we see Jimmy. No matter how free we may consider ourselves to choose our identities we are of course always defined in the eyes of others. Visual cues always stand in for facts - and we see and think that we know. Jimmy is of Chinese and African heritage and we had a great chat about the conundrums surrounding identites and their representations...and how he can't see himself as being English but he can British...that was part of a longer conversation that I wish I could add more of here but sadly can't. #CultureShifts #toxteth #portraits #culture #representation #blm #identity #reoresentation #chinese #african #heritage
